According to BBC News, Newcastle United supporters booed their side after a 1-0 home defeat to Everton, their second loss to the same opponents within a week. Manager Matthias Jaissle described the result as a “big frustration” and accepted the supporters’ reaction after another error-strewn display.

Everton won after Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek allowed a routine shot to squirm beneath him, enabling Thierno Barry to score. Substitute Jacob Ramsey was sent off, while Newcastle struggled to create clear chances despite registering 17 attempts, only two of which were on target.

Jaissle said his players lacked bravery in possession and relied on too many long balls. Newcastle have taken 11 points from nine Premier League games and sit in the bottom half of the table. They have lost seven home league matches in 2026, more than any other Premier League side.

The team have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their past 14 home league matches, their longest such run in league history. Newcastle have made four errors leading to goals this season, while they have scored only once from their past 47 shots in all competitions.

Captain Dan Burn said the atmosphere reflected supporters’ frustrations and acknowledged that the side were not ruthless enough at either end. Newcastle visit Fulham on Saturday before league fixtures against Arsenal at home and Brighton away.
