According to France 24, legal loopholes and gaps involving specialised medicine may be driving illegal organ harvesting in Nigeria.

The issue was featured in France 24’s “Eye on Africa” programme, issued on March 9, 2026. The report examines concerns over how weaknesses in the legal and medical framework may enable the practice.

The same edition also reports that South Sudan may be moving closer to delivering on elections scheduled for December. Separately, it says six colonial-era plantation estates in São Tomé and Príncipe have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
