Arabic version: نوريس يتأمل في تحديات مكلارين قبل جائزة بريطانيا الكبرى
Lando Norris has expressed mixed feelings regarding McLaren’s performance as they head into the British Grand Prix. According to BBC News, he described the start of the season as “dreadful” in terms of reliability, although he noted that the car’s pace has not been entirely disappointing.
Norris acknowledged that the difficulties faced this season are rooted in the success the team enjoyed in 2024 and 2025. He stated, “I’m happy I have the pain of this year for the glory of last,” emphasizing that the energy expended to achieve last season’s title double has had significant consequences for their current performance.
The McLaren team has struggled to keep pace with competitors like Mercedes, often fluctuating between the second and fourth fastest teams. Norris pointed out that their sole opportunity for victory this season was compromised by a strategic error during the Miami Grand Prix, where he was leading before the mistake occurred.
Heading into his home race, Norris finds himself in fifth place in the championship standings, a considerable 92 points behind leader Kimi Antonelli. Despite the setbacks, he remains optimistic about the potential for podium finishes, stating that achieving this would require a flawless performance from the team.
Norris, who has been with McLaren for his entire Formula 1 career, expressed his strong commitment to the team, indicating a desire to remain with them long-term. He stated that while winning is important, he values his happiness at McLaren just as much. He mentioned, “I would love to be” at McLaren for life, reflecting on the deep bond he has formed with the team and its management.
