According to ABC News, North Melbourne’s opening offer to Sydney for Nick Blakey has been knocked back as the AFL trade period enters its final days.
ABC Sport reported that Blakey wants to play for North Melbourne and the Kangaroos want to secure his move, but Sydney has not accepted the club’s first proposal.
Cal Twomey of AFL.com.au reported that North Melbourne made an offer over the weekend centred on pick six and a swap of later selections. Sydney rejected it.
The Kangaroos are expected to need a bigger package and may have to be creative and aggressive in their pursuit of a deal acceptable to the Swans. ABC Sport said the negotiations could run until the deadline.
The trade window closes on Wednesday evening. Other deals being watched include Lachie Whitfield to Carlton, Zane Duursma to Melbourne, Nick Murray to North Melbourne, and Jack Viney and Trent Rivers to West Coast.
