Northampton secured the Premiership title with a 26-17 victory over Exeter at Allianz Stadium, thanks to a standout performance from George Hendy, who scored two crucial tries in the second half. This win marks Northampton’s third title, following a strong season where they topped the league with only three losses.

According to BBC News, the match began with Northampton taking an early lead when Tommy Freeman capitalized on an Exeter error to score within two minutes. Exeter quickly responded, with Campbell Ridl scoring to level the match. Fin Smith’s try briefly gave Northampton the lead again, but Exeter’s Josh Iosefa-Scott scored just before halftime to narrow the gap to four points.

The second half saw both teams exchange momentum, particularly after Northampton’s Josh Kemeny was sin-binned. Exeter’s Dafydd Jenkins then scored, briefly putting Exeter ahead. However, Jenkins was yellow-carded shortly after, allowing Northampton to regain control. Hendy’s first try came in the 64th minute, followed by another just moments later, sealing the win for the Saints.

Northampton’s captain, George Furbank, lifted the trophy in what was his final match for the team before moving to Harlequins. Despite losing their fifth final in seven attempts, Exeter showed resilience throughout the season, rebounding from a disappointing previous year and showcasing new talent.

The match highlighted Northampton’s ability to perform under pressure and showcased the potential for Exeter to rebuild and challenge again in the future, especially with new investment on the horizon.
