According to BBC News, Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with Hungary at Windsor Park to maintain an unbeaten start to their Nations League League B2 campaign. After two matches, Michael O’Neill’s side have four points and are joint-top of the group with Ukraine.

The draw followed Northern Ireland’s late win over Georgia on Friday, though their return to Windsor Park after 315 days did not produce another dramatic finish. O’Neill said his team were more than a match for Hungary, but lacked the final chance needed to secure victory.

Opportunities were limited as both defences held firm. Patrick Kelly struck the crossbar in the first half, while Isaac Price had an effort saved by Hungary goalkeeper Balazs Toth. Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pierce Charles was largely untroubled, making his only save after a clearance led to Alex Toth shooting late on.

O’Neill also pointed to the demanding turnaround after the 5,000-mile trip from Georgia and said he saw two tired teams towards the end. He was disappointed with some bookings and with what he described as simulation by Hungarian players, but praised Northern Ireland’s clean sheet. The side have kept eight clean sheets in their last 10 home matches and next face Ukraine in Slovakia on Friday.
