NSW LABOR: SAFEGUARDING SYDNEY WATER WITH FIRST PIECE OF LEGISLATION

Date

Spread the love

The first piece of legislation from a Minns Labor Government will be to amend the NSW constitution to protect Sydney Water and Hunter Water from privatisation.

Once passed this constitutional amendment will ensure that Sydney Water and Hunter Water cannot be sold off, today, tomorrow, or ever.

Privatisation of our ports, toll roads, and energy infrastructure has contributed to the cost-of-living crisis that is now impacting every single family in New South Wales.

Independent analysis has found that if the Liberals succeed in privatising Sydney Water it will cost families $264 more every year in higher bills.

Documents released during the election campaign show that Dominic Perrottet and the Liberals have already drawn up plans to privatise Sydney Water assets.

The first legislative act of a Minns Labor Government will put an end to the economic vandalism of the privatisation of publicly owned water infrastructure once and for all.

Mr Perrotett has broken trust with New South Wales voters on privatisation before, and if wins again, he will do it again. That’s just what Dom Perrottet does.

Quotes attributable to Chris Minns, NSW Labor Leader:

“The fate of Sydney Water is on the ballot on Saturday. Which is why protecting Sydney Water will be our first legislative act after the campaign. That’s the choice at this election. Only Labor will amend our constitution to end privatisation.”

Quotes attributable to Rose Jackson, Shadow Minister for Water:

“If the Liberals are given four more years, they will sell off Sydney Water. That’s a fact, and they won’t stop there. Hunter Water will be on the chopping block too.”

Quotes attributable to John Graham, NSW Shadow Special Minister of State:
“Labor is the only party which is committed to protecting our state assets via the NSW constitution. Labor will always fight for public assets to stay in public hands.”
