The most alarming description and diagnosis of the current situation in Lebanon, which we cherish for its people, heritage, and resistance, is that Lebanon is experiencing a “ceasefire without a ceasefire.” The events unfolding suggest that there is no real halt to hostilities; Israel continues to wreak havoc in the Lebanese landscape, committing acts of violence and displacement without restraint.
Netanyahu is employing a scorched earth policy, with the treacherous Zionist entity persisting in its attacks against civilians, particularly targeting children and women. This is an attempt to replicate the Gaza scenario in southern Lebanon, a symbol of resilience and resistance throughout its confrontations with the extremist Israeli entity.
What has greatly distressed me is the fact that even paramedics and healthcare workers are not spared from Israeli aggression; they have become intentional targets, despite this being a clear war crime.
But with whom are we negotiating?
With a state that violates laws and humanitarian norms on a daily basis?
A state whose laws are rooted in thuggery and all forms of murder?
The silence from the Trump administration regarding the situation in southern Lebanon raises critical questions: Who are we engaging in dialogue with, and on what basis, when Israel consistently violates the ceasefire every day, even every hour?
They claim that Israel’s agenda revolves around disarming Hezbollah and that the expansion of the occupying army in southern Lebanese villages is justified and legally sanctioned. But what about the right of the Lebanese people to live securely and peacefully on their own land?
The more concerning issue is that the Zionist lobby promotes in Western capitals that the sectarian, religious, and political divisions within Lebanon’s political structure are fragile, and that the Lebanese government and army cannot control Hezbollah. In reality, this is merely a pretext to allow Israel to occupy the land and realize the vision of “Greater Israel.”
The Lebanese government possesses political legitimacy in a comprehensive sense, while it is Israel that instigates internal strife within Lebanon.
The facts indicate that Trump, by imposing a fragile, insincere ceasefire—one that has not led to a complete cessation of hostilities and has not resulted in Israel withdrawing from southern Lebanon—seeks to revive the “Abraham Accords” and fulfill the dream of “Greater Israel.”
“Political extermination follows humanitarian extermination in Lebanon,” which is what Israel aims to impose on reality. Yet in the field, it is evident that Israel will not succeed in silencing the Lebanese resistance. It appears that dialogue with the Zionist entity, given its previous negotiation records in Lebanon and Syria, is merely an opportunity to waste time and empower the Israeli project from the sea to the Litani River. The forthcoming scenario is one of “pressure and counter-pressure” as Israel seeks to dominate Lebanon’s gas and oil-rich shores.
Peace to the people of Lebanon, who remain unshaken by life’s challenges, unaffected by circumstances, and unchanged no matter what occurs.
This is the steadfast people of Lebanon, enduring through the ages and days.
A salute from the Egyptian people to the proud people of Lebanon.
Lebanon will endure as a nation of its people, resistance, culture, and history, despite the plans of Trump and his associates.
