According to ABC News, a woman in her 30s visiting from overseas died on Wednesday at Ubirr Lookout in Kakadu National Park. Northern Territory Police are investigating the death at the popular attraction.

Police said the woman died on the western side of Ubirr Lookout. A spokesperson confirmed she was an international tourist but did not identify the country she was visiting from.

“At this time, there is no suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” a police spokesperson said. The Ubirr Lookout site has been closed to the public while police investigate.

Ubirr is one of Kakadu’s two most famous Aboriginal rock art galleries and is a major tourism drawcard, hosting some of the world’s most outstanding rock art. The rock formation also featured prominently in the 1986 Australian film Crocodile Dundee.

NT Parks and Wildlife Minister Marie-Clare Boothby described the loss of life as heartbreaking and said her thoughts were with the woman’s loved ones.
