Parramatta Artists Studios (PAS) has been honoured for its focus on inclusion and accessibility, named winner at one of the state’s top awards ceremonies – the 2025 IMAGinE Awards.

PAS picked up the Accessible Arts Award for its Access & Inclusion Program 2024-25, beating entries from other major galleries and museums including Australian Museum, Blacktown Arts and Museum of Contemporary Art Australia.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said improving access to art and culture is crucial as Parramatta grows as a global City.

“Art is for everyone, and I am proud of the staff at PAS for creating and delivering a program designed to ensure Deaf and Disabled artists and audiences can access and participate at PAS,” Cr Zaiter said.

“Parramatta is home to this unique Western Sydney incubator for contemporary arts and it is important to make PAS an attractive option for all artists from all backgrounds.

“Breaking down barriers strengthens participation and we’re humbled to be announced as the winner of this prestigious award.”

The Access & Inclusion Program embedded improved accessibility across all PAS programs by providing safer sensory environments, proactive accommodations, skilled staff, and clear written, visual and sensory venue information, aiming to create an inclusive experience for everyone to enjoy.

Parramatta Artists Studios was first established in 2006 and has grown, now containing 20 studios across two sites at Rydalmere and Granville.

“PAS has helped hundreds of artists in Western Sydney make their dreams come true, with some recognised on the world stage – I look forward to seeing more creative works particularly from our Deaf and Disabled Artists come to life,” Cr Zaiter said.

The IMAGinE Awards are presented annually by Museums & Galleries of NSW and celebrate the outstanding achievements of museums, galleries, and Aboriginal cultural centres across New South Wales.
