Today Andrew Charton MP hosted a local jobs and skills summit facilitated alongside Business Western Sydney and Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue.

This roundtable discussion brought together 80 diverse voices from local businesses, education institutions, unions, and community organisations to brainstorm ways to improve business and education in Parramatta and Western Sydney.

Main points of discussion included lowering the unemployment rate in certain parts of the electorate, addressing skills shortages, supporting women and migrants to fully participate in the workforce, improving access to tertiary education, and maximising local job opportunities.

The event outcomes will be submitted to the Treasury taskforce ahead of the National Jobs Summit.

Special thanks to  panelists Donna Davis – Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake, Office Managing Partner of Deloitte Helen Hamilton-James, Chairman and Founder of Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue Christopher Brown and Executive Director of Business Western Sydney David Borger, Sameer Pandey, Sandra Doumit and Elie Kaltoum.

The conversation was hugely productive.
