Parramatta Square will become an even brighter and more vibrant destination at night with concepts endorsed for new lighting in the precinct.

Set to improve the visitor experience, the Parramatta Square Lighting project will help create a more welcoming and engaging city centre both day and night.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the project reflects Council’s commitment to creating a safe, vibrant and world-class CBD.

“Parramatta Square is the heart of our CBD and this project will help make it an even more welcoming and inviting place to visit after dark,” Cr Zaiter said.

“Great cities are defined by great public spaces, and Parramatta is no exception. These improvements will transform how people experience the precinct, creating a place that is full of energy and safe to explore by night.

“This is about building on the success of Parramatta Square and continuing to create memorable experiences for residents, workers and visitors while showcasing Parramatta as a leading global city.”

Stage 1 of the project will focus on five locations across Parramatta Square and is expected to be complete in late 2027.

Council will also explore opportunities for Stage 2, including a feature lighting installation to further enhance the precinct.
