Local young people will take centre stage as City of Parramatta celebrates Youth Week from 9-17 April.
This year’s theme, ‘We are the future, and the future is now!’ recognises the incredible energy and potential of the youth of Parramatta and invites those aged 12-24 to take charge and celebrate their role in shaping the world around them.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said Youth Week is the perfect platform for our City’s youth to shine.
“Youth Week is not just a celebration, but a chance for young people to step up, share their ideas and connect with their community,” Cr Zaiter said.
“We are committed to building a City where young voices are amplified and where opportunities to participate, create and engage are available to all.
“Young people are our future leaders, creators, and changemakers, and this vibrant week is a reflection of the City’s commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive Parramatta for our young residents.
“In the spirit of Youth Week, I also invite young people to have their say on our draft Youth Inclusion Framework 2025-2028, which is currently on public exhibition until 14 April.”
The City of Parramatta works together with local youth and is proud to partner with local schools, service providers and businesses to plan and execute a wide range of activities, from arts and fitness to community events.
This year, Youth Week promises activities designed to spark creativity, inspire learning and promote wellbeing. Some highlights include:
- Nautanki Theatre: a series of workshops empowering youth through the Spark Initiative from 9-17 April in Wentworthville.
