According to ABC News, Northern Territory Police have charged Clifford Anthony Drover, 49, with manslaughter over a fatal road incident on Darwin’s Tiger Brennan Drive in 2024.

Police said the charge relates to an incident on February 27, 2024, when a 36-year-old man was struck by a vehicle and later died from his injuries. They allege Mr Drover was also a pedestrian at the time.

The 50-year-old driver stopped at the scene and later tested positive for drugs. Another man at the scene, then aged 46, was arrested by police.

NT Police said the manslaughter charge followed a complex investigation and recommendations from the Northern Territory Coroner and the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mr Drover was charged and remanded in custody in Alice Springs.

He made a brief first appearance in the Alice Springs Local Court. The case was adjourned to September 9 for a preliminary examination mention in Darwin, while a bail application is scheduled for August 19.
