According to BBC News, Germany’s Amanal Petros and Finland’s Alisa Vainio won marathon gold medals at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

Petros set a new championship record as he took gold in the men’s marathon. Vainio also established a new championship record on her way to victory in the women’s race.
