Arabic version: الشرطة تحقق في مزاعم الحرق العمد من قبل مجموعة إسلامية في شمال لندن
According to BBC News,
An Islamist group with links to Iran has claimed responsibility for three separate attacks in north London. The group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya, made the unsubstantiated claims by posting videos on social media. The incidents include an attempted arson at a Persian media organization’s offices and attacks on a synagogue and ambulances serving the Jewish community.
On Wednesday evening, police responded to an attempted arson at the Volant Media building, where an ignited container was thrown but landed in a car park and was extinguished before causing damage. Following the incident, officers pursued a black SUV, resulting in the arrest of a 16-year-old boy and two men, aged 19 and 21, on suspicion of arson endangering life. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
The police have not classified these incidents as terrorism yet, but they have issued a warning regarding individuals who may be persuaded or paid to act on behalf of foreign organizations. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans noted that the police are aware of the group and the incidents occurring across Europe, stating that they are keeping an open mind as investigations progress.
Earlier, two individuals were arrested after petrol-filled bottles were thrown at Finchley Reform Synagogue. Additionally, last month, four ambulances belonging to the Jewish community charity Hatzola were attacked in Golders Green, leading to a total of eight arrests, with three individuals charged in connection with the incidents. Deputy Commissioner Matt Jukes emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that hate crimes will not be tolerated and that those engaging in such acts will face consequences.
