According to ABC News, Northern Territory Police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old woman found unresponsive at a home on Paqualin Road in Malak, in Darwin’s northern suburbs. A crime scene has been declared at the property.

Police said they went to the home yesterday morning after a neighbour made a report. Officers began CPR before paramedics took over, and the woman was declared dead a short time later. Police said the exact circumstances remain under investigation and the cause of death is unknown.

The woman’s 26-year-old partner was arrested at the scene over an alleged assault in the hours before she was found dead, and for allegedly breaching a domestic violence order. Police said he remained in custody and had not yet been charged with any offence.

An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday. Major Crime detectives are investigating and police said a report would be prepared for the coroner. Neighbours told ABC News that at least three children also lived at the property.

A neighbour, who spoke anonymously, said they had reported alleged domestic violence at the home dozens of times over multiple years. Local member Brian O’Gallagher described the death as “an absolute tragedy” and called for a targeted police operation in Malak, citing what he said was a recent surge in violent crime in the area.
