According to The Guardian, a 23-year-old man has died after a suspected dog attack at a rural property in Eschol Park, in Sydney’s south-west. Authorities were alerted to the discovery of his body on Wednesday.

New South Wales police found the man with significant injuries and established a crime scene at the property. Police said initial inquiries indicated that he may have been attacked by animals before his death.

“Initial inquiries indicate the man may have been attacked by animals prior to his death,” NSW police said in a statement. Campbelltown City detectives have launched an investigation, with inquiries continuing and a report to be prepared for the coroner.

About eight dogs lived at the Eschol Park property, Sydney radio station 2GB reported. The station said none of the animals were registered or microchipped. Campbelltown council said it was supporting police inquiries and would continue assisting as required, including by determining the dogs’ registration and ownership status.
