According to ABC News, a man in his 80s has died in hospital after he was found with life-threatening injuries at his home in Surat, a regional Queensland town about 450 kilometres west of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to a property on Ivan Street at about 3:40pm on Thursday. Surat is about 80 kilometres south of Roma. A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said paramedics were initially dispatched to what was described as a “medical episode” at the residential property.

On arrival, paramedics found the man with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Surat Hospital, where he later died.

Queensland Police Service officers have declared two crime scenes as part of the investigation: one at a unit and another at a nearby vehicle. Police are treating the man’s “sudden” death as suspicious, and investigations are continuing.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said there was no ongoing threat to the public. Investigators have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact police.
