Arabic version: أسواق التنبؤ تتوقع وظائف سبتمبر أعلى من التقديرات
According to Cnbc, traders on prediction market platform Kalshi see nearly 60% odds that the United States added more than 90,000 payrolls in September. The market’s expectation is above the Dow Jones consensus estimate of 84,000 jobs for the month.
Kalshi traders also place close to a 50-50 chance on the September employment report showing more than 100,000 jobs. Its contracts ask traders whether the United States added more than specified job totals during the month, and are resolved using official Bureau of Labor Statistics data.
Traders on Polymarket likewise see roughly even odds that the September report will show employment in the six-figure range. Polymarket contracts are resolved in the same way as those on Kalshi.
The expectations follow an August employment report that showed the United States added 162,000 jobs, exceeding expectations. Earlier in the summer, the labor market had shown signs of weakness, but the August report indicated a rebound. It also gave Federal Reserve policymakers greater cover to focus on inflation, which remains above target, and raise interest rates at their September meeting.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics is scheduled to release the September employment report on Friday at 8:30 a.m. ADP’s national employment report is due Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. ET. CNBC and Kalshi have a commercial relationship that includes customer acquisition and a minority investment.
