South Sudan’s Presidential Envoy for Special Programs, Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Wednesday addressed members of the National Police Service during a parade at the Buluk Police Headquarters in Juba.
In her remarks, Adut thanked police officers for their dedication and service to the country, noting that their efforts help ensure the safety and security of communities across South Sudan.
She said the police play a vital role in maintaining law and order, protecting citizens from violence, criminal gangs, theft and other offences that often affect people during the night. She added that the public places significant trust in the police because of their responsibility to safeguard lives, property and national stability.
The parade was organised in her honour during her visit to the police headquarters, where she assessed the working conditions and operational challenges facing the service.
Adut urged officers to remain committed to their duties and to continue serving with integrity, professionalism and discipline. She emphasised that the government is committed to improving police welfare, strengthening facilities and supporting capacity-building programs within the police institution.
The Presidential Envoy also pledged her support for efforts aimed at improving police operations and ensuring that officers are better equipped to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
Sources within the police service told Oz Arab Media that the visit demonstrated Adut’s commitment to strengthening the institution. The sources said discussions focused on challenges faced by officers during night patrols, particularly those deployed at checkpoints, markets and business centres.
They noted that improving resources, welfare and operational support would assist police officers in responding more effectively to crime and maintaining public safety throughout the country.
