According to BBC News, Prince George arrived at Eton College on a rainy morning for his first day at the historic school. The 13-year-old, wearing a jacket and tie, was accompanied by his father and mother, the Prince and Princess of Wales, who carried umbrellas as they brought him to the school.

George was welcomed by Eton head teacher Simon Henderson and provost Sir Nicholas Coleridge. “Welcome, good luck and enjoy,” the head teacher said while shaking hands with Prince George. They made small talk about the bad weather before the new pupil, his parents and school staff went inside.

Prince George will be a boarder at Eton, which takes pupils from the age of 13 and has 25 boarding houses. Each house is home to approximately 55 pupils and is looked after by residential staff headed by a house master. The school is not far from the family’s home in Windsor.

The future king follows his father, Prince William, in attending the elite private school, where fees are around £65,000 a year. Prince Harry and George’s great uncle Earl Spencer also attended Eton. The school has taught 20 British prime ministers, with recent former pupils including Lord David Cameron, Boris Johnson, Kwasi Kwarteng and Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg. Prince William said in June 2000 that he had enjoyed being able to go about Eton “as just another student”.
