Anna Polyviou has worked in some of the world’s best kitchens.

The “punk princess” and self-confessed “powerhouse of pastry” has tantalised tastebuds in London, Paris and Melbourne, but nothing’s impressed her as much as the local business owners in Canterbury-Bankstown.

“This area is unique because it offers authentic dishes made by people who have carried their culinary heritage with them,” Polyviou said.

“The food here isn’t just about eating; it’s about experiencing the stories and traditions behind each dish.”

Polyviou will be showcasing her own fusion of flavours inspired by her culinary journeys when she cooks up a storm at Bankstown Bites on Saturday 27 July.

On the Main Stage at Bites Kitchen, Polyviou will be cooking up a delicious cheese and charcuterie baguette and a creamy banoffee pie.

“I’m excited to share these recipes because they represent a blend of tradition and innovation, highlighting how different culinary cultures can come together to create something truly special.”

She will also be sharing her secrets in an all-new Celebrity Chef Masterclass, where she will teach participants to make spanakopita, keftedes and loukoumades.

“I look forward to meeting local chefs and food enthusiasts, discovering new flavours, and sharing my culinary experiences,” Polyviou said.

“Events like these are perfect for bringing the community together through a shared love of food, and I can’t wait to be a part of that energy and excitement.”

On the day, Polyviou will be joined by a very special guest, who instilled in her a love for cooking from a young age.

“Having my mum, Eugina, join me on stage is incredibly special. She has been my biggest inspiration in the kitchen, teaching me the secrets and techniques that have shaped my culinary journey,” Polyviou said.

“Her presence on stage is not just a nod to my roots but also a way to honour the countless hours we’ve spent together in the kitchen.”

Limited Celebrity Chef Masterclass tickets will be on sale online from Monday 8 July. For more information, visit wih.city/BankstownBites
