Liverpool City Council is highlighting its ongoing investment in local parks and reserves through its Block Party event series, encouraging residents to explore local open spaces, connect with their neighbours and enjoy quality community facilities.
The second instalment of the Block Party program was recently held at Pye Hill Reserve in Cecil Hills, showcasing Council’s most extensive park upgrade project to date. The community celebration featured a plaque unveiling, live entertainment, food trucks and activities for all ages.
Pye Hill Reserve upgrades represent a combined investment of more than $3.5 million from the Australian Government, NSW Government and Liverpool City Council delivering an inclusive playground and expanded regional trail connection for the growing Cecil Hills community. Mayor of Liverpool, Ned Mannoun, said Pye Hill Reserve reflects Council’s commitment to delivering high-quality public spaces for the community.
“Pye Hill Reserve is our most recent and extensive park upgrade project and a great example of Council’s commitment to creating high-quality public spaces that make Liverpool an even better place to live.”
“I am proud we have delivered the modern, inclusive and welcoming green space our residents deserve. I look forward to seeing families connecting, children playing, and residents of all ages enjoying the outdoors.”
The upgraded playground features a modern inclusive play space designed so children of all abilities can play together. New facilities include accessible play equipment, rubber soft-fall surfacing, shade structures, picnic areas, pathways, native landscaping, an accessible amenities building and improved connections throughout the reserve.
Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories, the Hon Kristy McBain MP, said:
“It’s fantastic to see work complete on Pye Hill Reserve, with this just one of many projects we’re partnering with Liverpool City Council on, as part of over $13.4 million awarded to Liverpool City Council under the Local Roads Community Infrastructure (LRCI) from the Australian Government.”
“This project is a great example of the Australian Government working in partnership to deliver Australian communities the infrastructure and facilities they deserve.”
The $2 million playground upgrade was proudly funded by the Australian Government, the NSW Government and Liverpool City Council.

“This nearly $2 million investment by the NSW Government has enabled the transformation of Pye Hill Reserve into a vibrant and welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
“Places like Pye Hill Reserve are the backyard of our communities. They provide opportunities for recreation, social connection and healthier lifestyles, while making neighbourhoods more attractive places to live.”
Member for Liverpool Charishma Kaliyanda said:
“Cecil Hills residents take enormous pride in their community, and when I’m out speaking with locals, I hear loud and clear that they want quality green spaces they can enjoy. The upgrade at Pye Hill Reserve delivers exactly that.
“Over the past year, it’s been great to see Pye Hill Reserve become a well-used part of the local community, with kids enjoying the playground, residents walking their dogs and people using the connections through the reserve to get out and exercise.”
The completion of Pye Hill Reserve marks another milestone in Liverpool City Council’s ongoing program of investments in parks, open spaces and community infrastructure, ensuring residents continue to benefit from high-quality recreational facilities as the city grows. Liverpool City Council will continue to deliver Block Party events at parks and reserves across the city throughout the year.
