According to ABC News, a rider has died following a “critical incident” during a motorcycle racing event at The Bend Motorsport Park, south-east of Adelaide.

SA Police said emergency services were called to a private racetrack at a motorsport event in Elwomple after reports of a crash just before 11am on Sunday. Police said one person died and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

Motorcycling South Australia and The Bend said the rider was treated by paramedics and died at the scene. The organisations described the event as a “critical incident” during motorcycle racing.

The Bend Motorsport Park is about 100 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. Motorcycling Australia said it was working with the relevant authorities following the incident.

Motorcycling South Australia and The Bend thanked officials, paramedics and first responders, and offered condolences to the rider’s family, friends and the wider motorsport community. They asked for the privacy of those affected to be respected.
