The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union has suspended a series of strikes planned by London Underground drivers, which were set to begin on Tuesday. The decision follows a shift in the employer’s stance regarding a proposed four-day work week with condensed hours.
According to BBC News, the RMT announced that “at the 11th hour the employer has shifted its position allowing us to further explore our members concerns around the imposition of new rosters, fatigue and safety issues”.
The industrial action was scheduled to start at 12:00 BST on Tuesday and continue on Thursday. Although the strikes for June 16 and 18 have been suspended, new strikes have been announced for June 2 and 4.
The developments come as the union seeks to address various concerns of its members while negotiating with London Underground management.
