According to Allafrica, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) say they have tightened control over the strategic Omdurman-El Obeid Export Road after capturing Umm Garfa, while local sources say fighting continues along key sections and the route remains unsafe for civilians.

In a Sunday statement, the SAF said its operations had inflicted heavy losses on the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in personnel and equipment. Soldiers posted videos they said showed troops securing parts of the road, with damaged and abandoned military vehicles visible. The SAF had previously said it captured Bara, Jabra El Sheikh and Um Sayala during its advance across North Kordofan.

Local sources in El Obeid told Radio Dabanga that the export road was still closed, disputing online claims that traffic had resumed between Omdurman and El Obeid. They said clashes persisted in several areas and that the RSF continued to control Reihad El Nuba.

Pro-RSF accounts reported the deaths of Maj Gen Wad Elamin El Daga and Maj Gen El Haj Hussein El Buss in fighting near Reihad El Nuba. The reports came as SAF Assistant Commander-in-Chief Lt Gen Yasser El Atta said forces had been ordered to continue advancing towards Um Dafoug locality in South Darfur.

The SAF spokesperson said troops seized 54 combat vehicles and destroyed or burned more than 62 heavily armed vehicles. Separately, the Sudan Doctors Network reported severe damage and looting at Jabra El Sheikh Hospital, which it said was out of service. Local sources also reported an RSF drone attack on El Obeid on Sunday, with no immediate information on casualties or damage.
