According to BBC News, Bukayo Saka came off the bench despite illness to assist Eberechi Eze and score in Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Lille.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had challenged Saka to aim for “two or three” goals per game. The England forward did not reach that mark, but his one-touch finish sealed the third goal after he had set up Eze for Arsenal’s second.

Saka has scored four goals in nine games this season. He now has 19 goals in major European competitions for Arsenal, behind only Thierry Henry’s 42, while his nine Champions League assists trail Henry and Cesc Fabregas.

Arteta made five changes from the side that beat Leeds. Jurrien Timber opened the scoring from Noni Madueke’s assist, while Eze scored his first goal of the season after starting only two matches in all competitions before Lille’s visit.

Madueke showed an ability to beat defenders but had a mixed evening, while Viktor Gyokeres struggled, recording 12 touches before being replaced. Arteta later introduced Saka, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard, with Havertz also setting up Saka’s goal.
