Arabic version: ساراسينز تدعم توتوا أوفا بعد حادثة النادي الليلي
Saracens forward Totoa Auvaa will not face any disciplinary action following his involvement in a nightclub incident with England cricket captain Ben Stokes and bowler Gus Atkinson. The incident occurred during a celebration of England’s victory in the first Test against New Zealand, leading to Stokes and Atkinson being made unavailable for the team’s second Test pending an inquiry.
According to BBC News, Saracens conducted their own investigation and expressed support for Auvaa, a 21-year-old academy player. The club criticized the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for excluding them from the inquiry process, stating that they wished to complete their investigation before any conclusions were drawn.
The ECB’s disciplinary hearing found that Stokes and Atkinson had breached team rules by violating a midnight curfew. However, it concluded that “no blame should be attached to the players for violent conduct at the nightclub”. This finding echoed a separate inquiry by the Cricket Regulator, which determined there was no case to answer regarding Auvaa’s actions.
Saracens released a statement expressing regret over the events that transpired and confirmed that they consider the matter closed. The club emphasized their commitment to supporting Auvaa, reinforcing their stance following a thorough review of the incident.
