Arabic version: اسكتلندا تحجز مقعدها في تصفيات كأس العالم بفوزها على كندا
According to BBC News, Scotland beat Canada by nine runs at Forthill to secure a place at next year’s World Cup Qualifier.
Fin McCreath made 112, his first international century, as Scotland posted 281-7 from 50 overs in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series match in Forfarshire. The Grange batter reached his century from 135 balls in the 47th over.
Canada began quickly, reaching 50 inside eight overs through Yuvraj Samra, who scored 78. They later slipped to 181-7 before Ansh Patel and captain Saad Bin Zafar added 84 to bring their side close to the target.
Canada were eventually bowled out for 272 in 49.2 overs, with Brandon McMullen taking 3-43. George Munsey held the decisive catch with four balls remaining to seal Scotland’s victory.
Scotland are now guaranteed a place at next year’s Qualifier because Canada cannot catch them in the League 2 standings. The match was the first game of the tri-series, also involving the United Arab Emirates, to avoid wet-weather washouts.
