According to ABC News, a second child has died after a single-vehicle crash at Parwan, west of Melbourne, on Tuesday afternoon. An 11-year-old boy, who was flown to hospital with critical injuries, died overnight.

A seven-year-old girl died at the scene after a 4WD carrying seven children rolled near Parwan just before 4pm. Five other children were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 34-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for observation. Victoria Police said the crash happened near the intersection of Nerowie and Parwan-Exford roads.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Detective Sergeant Tony Gentile from the Major Collision Investigation Unit said the woman had picked the children up from school and described the scene as hectic, with witnesses stopping to render assistance. Police have asked anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
