Arabic version: السنغال تنتظر قرار «كاس» في نوفمبر بشأن لقب كأس أمم أفريقيا
According to Allafrica, Senegal will wait until the end of November 2026 for the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to rule on its appeal against a Confederation of African Football decision that awarded Morocco the AFCON 2025 title.
The Lausanne-based CAS said its arbitrators had chosen to issue a comprehensive ruling rather than a summary judgment. The tribunal said the complete decision, including legal grounds and known as a CAS Award, would require several weeks and was expected at the end of November.
The dispute stems from the AFCON 2025 final between hosts Morocco and Senegal. Senegal left the pitch to protest a late penalty awarded to Morocco in the closing minutes of regulation time. Play resumed after a 15-minute delay, Morocco missed the penalty, and Pape Gueye scored in extra time to secure victory for Senegal on the field.
In March, CAF’s appeals panel overturned that result and awarded Morocco a 3-0 default win and the title, finding that Senegal’s walkout was unauthorised. Senegal then appealed to CAS, seeking restoration of its on-field victory.
If CAS rules for Senegal, the Teranga Lions will be restored as continental champions. If the appeal is dismissed, Morocco will be confirmed as the 2025 titleholders.
