According to ABC News, Football Australia will continue assessing security before the Socceroos travel for friendly internationals against Qatar and Jordan. The team is scheduled to face Qatar in Doha on November 13, or November 14 AEDT, before playing Jordan in Amman three days later.

Football Australia chief executive Martin Kugeler said the organisation would keep reviewing the environment for the Jordan match and provide players and staff with safety advice and risk assessments. He said the safety and wellbeing of players and staff remained the organisation’s highest priority.

The squad named by coach Tony Popovic includes seven uncapped players and has eight changes from September’s friendlies against Brazil in Australia. Captain Maty Ryan, Jackson Irvine, Milos Degenek and Aiden O’Neill are among the prominent omissions. It is unclear whether those players made themselves unavailable for safety reasons.

Professional Footballers Australia said on Friday that players had overwhelmingly expressed the view that the Jordan match should be rescheduled or relocated. There has been no movement on the Amman fixture, despite Indonesia recently cancelling its planned friendly in Jordan.

New call-ups include Central Coast defender Diesel Herrington, Portsmouth striker Thomas Waddingham and FC St. Pauli midfielder Sam Klein. Popovic said the international window remained important despite the Asian Cup being moved from January to December 2027 because of security concerns in Saudi Arabia. He said the camp would allow the group to work with new players while preparing for World Cup 2030 qualifying and the Asian Cup.
