President Kirr received a significant endorsement on Tuesday, solidifying his position as the flagbearer for the SPM party in Western Ber El Ghazal and Abyei administrative area. Thousands of his supporters joyously celebrated his selection as the party’s handpicked candidate, who will run on their ticket in the upcoming General Elections of 2024, as planned.

This endorsement came as a result of the party members’ recommendations, who diligently assessed the nominations of various candidates vying for the opportunity to participate in the country’s first elections. The responsibility of conducting an independent, free, and fair election falls upon the nation, despite the substantial challenges posed by the revitalized peace agreement. President Kirr, speaking at the rally ceremony in Western Ber El Ghazal state, expressed his commitment to ensuring the successful execution of the elections.

Having served as the leader of the SPM party since its inception and overseeing the historical period of South Sudan’s independence in 2011, President Kirr has now been granted another opportunity by his party to run for the esteemed position of President. This decision marks a pivotal moment, as South Sudan earned recognition as a sovereign state under President Kirr’s leadership when he hoisted the national flag.

Presidential Affairs Minister Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin revealed that President Kirr’s outreach efforts will continue, extending his tours to Equatorial state and beyond, engaging with the electorate and effectively conveying his message to them.
