According to France 24, almost all migrants who entered Spain’s enclave of Ceuta had left by Saturday, officials said, following a mass crossing from neighbouring Morocco over just a few days.

An estimated 60,000 migrants entered Ceuta during the influx. At least 67 people lost their lives in the attempt, France 24 reported.

Spain announced plans to install a 500-metre-long containment barrier along the sea border. The report described Spain as criticising EU partners as “selfish”.

Meanwhile, a majority of European Union countries called for emergency talks in an open letter to the bloc’s interior ministers.
