Arabic version: خسارة ستار البالغة 307 ملايين دولار تثير تساؤلات حول بقائها
According to ABC News, Star Entertainment reported a $307 million annual loss and said there were “uncertainties” over whether the casino operator would remain a “going concern”. The result raised fresh questions about the group’s viability.
Star’s FY26 loss was an improvement on the $428 million loss recorded a year earlier. The company reported revenue of $1.1 billion, while noting stabilised revenue after two years of declines and a material improvement in cash burn, which was still $20 million in the first half.
The casino group also completed a $300 million equity investment intended to keep its operations running. In its results release, Star referred to “Ongoing Material Uncertainty”, while saying it had made substantial progress resolving a number of previous matters.
On the wider market, the ASX 200 closed down 0.2 per cent at 9,076 points. Financial stocks and non-discretionary retailers led gains, while miners and healthcare shares weighed on the index. BHP fell 1.6 per cent and Northern Star lost 5.4 per cent.
Westpac rose 1.9 per cent and CBA gained 1.7 per cent, while Suncorp increased 2.3 per cent. Oil and gas producers also rose with global oil prices: Woodside added 0.5 per cent and Viva Energy climbed 3.5 per cent.
