The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine strongly condemns the Israeli Ministry of Energy’s decision to cut off electricity to the Gaza Strip, and considers this an escalation of Israel’s war of genocide, forced displacement, and humanitarian catastrophe affecting every aspect of life for the people of Gaza.
This decision comes as the Israeli occupation persists in preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid to more than 2 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who are suffering the most horrific forms of ethnic cleansing.
The Ministry also strongly condemns the Israeli occupation’s crimes against our people in the northern occupied West Bank – particularly in the cities and refugee camps of Jenin and Tulkarm governorates – including systematic destruction, forced displacement, and annexation.
The Ministry believes that the international community’s double standards and failure to implement United Nations resolutions or the provisional measures of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) encourage Israel, the occupying power, to escalate its illegal measures against our people.
The Ministry calls for urgent international intervention to provide international protection, relief, and humanitarian aid for our people, and to compel the Israeli government to fulfill its obligations as an occupying power towards the Palestinian people.
