The Subway Socceroos have played out an exciting 2-2 draw with Mexico at AT&T Stadium, Dallas last night, as Graham Arnold’s side continue to build towards their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers and the AFC Asian Cup Qatar.
Cameron Burgess became Socceroo #633, named to start in central defence alongside Harry Souttar, who opened the scoring for the Subway Socceroos with a pinpoint header from a set piece in the 16th minute – taking his goal tally to seven in 17 appearances.
Martin Boyle made his long-awaited return from injury in the starting XI, with the Hibernian FC winger getting on the scoresheet – converting clinically from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute.
Sam Silvera secured a Subway Socceroo’s debut from the bench, with the Middlesborough winger replacing Boyle midway through the second half.
Mexico clawed back a goal in the 69th minute with Raul Jimenez taking his opportunity from the penalty spot before Cesar Huerta drew things level in the 83rd minute.
The Subway Socceroos now turn their attention to fixtures with England and New Zealand in London during the October FIFA Men’s International Window, before World Cup Qualification commences in November.
