The Government of Sudan has announced the extension of the Adré border crossing with Chad, allowing continued access for humanitarian aid deliveries by international relief organisations. The decision, confirmed in an official statement issued on 31 March 2026, will take effect from 1 April 2026 and remain in place until 30 June 2026.

The Adré crossing, located along the Sudanese–Chadian border, has played a critical role in enabling the delivery of essential assistance to populations affected by ongoing challenges across Sudan. By extending its operation, the Sudanese Government aims to ensure uninterrupted access for humanitarian agencies working to provide food, medical supplies, and other vital support to vulnerable communities.

According to the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the move reflects Sudan’s continued commitment to facilitating humanitarian efforts nationwide. Authorities emphasised their dedication to working closely with international and national relief organisations, ensuring that aid distribution aligns with the principles and regulations of international humanitarian law.

The Government further noted that the extension aligns with its broader policy of constructive engagement with regional partners and international institutions. Officials expressed optimism that strengthened coordination with humanitarian actors would enhance the effectiveness and organisation of aid operations, particularly at the Adré crossing.

In highlighting the importance of cooperation, Sudan reiterated its intention to maintain a structured and regulated approach to humanitarian work, ensuring both efficiency and compliance with established frameworks.
