Arabic version: رئيس وزراء السودان يرفض التدخل الأجنبي

According to Allafrica, Sudan Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris said the country’s leadership would not compromise on national sovereignty or sovereign decision-making, while rejecting all forms of foreign interference.

Idris made the remarks during a Sunday meeting in Khartoum with Pekka Haavisto, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Sudan, and the envoy’s accompanying delegation.

The prime minister gave a comprehensive briefing on the situation in Sudan and expressed appreciation for the role of the United Nations. He said Sudan is an active member of the organization and is ready to exchange views and ideas that could contribute positively to peace and development.

Haavisto said he was pleased to meet Idris on the occasion of his return to Khartoum. The two sides agreed on the importance of working together through close coordination toward a sustainable and peaceful solution for the country.

The UN envoy also thanked the prime minister for supporting UN efforts and said he wanted to continue close cooperation in support of peace, stability and a better future for the Sudanese people.
