According to ABC News, Gold Coast ended a 10-game AFL losing streak with a two-point win over GWS in Canberra, while Collingwood beat West Coast in Perth to secure a place in the league’s new wildcard round.

The Suns defeated the Giants 11.13 (79) to 11.11 (77). A fourth-quarter goal by Bailey Humphrey, upheld on video review, proved decisive. Humphrey was tackled by GWS defender Lachie Ash while running into goal, and the back of his heel clipped the ball as he slid across the line.

Harley Reid, who sustained a quad hit in the first quarter, finished with 30 disposals, six clearances and a goal for West Coast.

In the live St Kilda-Carlton match at Docklands, St Kilda lost Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera to a hamstring injury within minutes. Bradley Hill later left the field after a non-contact knee injury but appeared set to return after sideline running.
