Sydney’s Lebanese and broader multicultural community is invited to come together for a special evening celebrating one of the Arab world’s most treasured cultural icons, Fairuz, at NSW Parliament House on Tuesday, 21 October 2026.

Presented by the Institute of the Development of Poetry and Heritage, the ceremony, titled “Our Ambassador to the Stars – Fairuz”, will honour the extraordinary artistic and cultural legacy of the legendary Lebanese singer whose voice has touched generations across Lebanon, Australia and around the world.

For decades, Fairuz has represented far more than music. Her songs have become deeply connected with Lebanese identity, heritage, nostalgia and a shared love for the homeland. From families listening to her music in Lebanon to generations of migrants carrying her songs with them across the world, Fairuz remains a powerful cultural symbol that continues to unite people.

The Sydney ceremony will provide an opportunity for the community to celebrate this remarkable legacy in one of New South Wales’ most significant public institutions.

The event will take place at NSW Parliament House, 6 Macquarie Street, Sydney, commencing at 6:30 pm.

With the Lebanese and Australian flags featured prominently in the event’s invitation, the occasion also reflects the strong connection between Lebanon and Australia and the important contribution of Lebanese culture to Australia’s multicultural story.

Members of the Lebanese-Australian community, lovers of Arabic music and poetry, cultural leaders and supporters of Lebanese heritage are encouraged to attend and be part of an evening dedicated to an artist whose voice continues to transcend generations and borders.
