According to ABC News, a 36-year-old woman from western Sydney has been denied bail after police alleged she sent death-threat letters to senior politicians and other recipients.
Jasmine Baker was arrested at her Constitution Hill home on Wednesday and faces 62 charges. They include 18 counts of threatening to kill, 23 stalking and intimidation charges, eight counts of using a postal service to menace, harass or offend, and 10 counts of making false accusations.
Police alleged Baker threatened NSW Labor minister Jihad Dib, One Nation leader Pauline Hanson, independent federal MP Allegra Spender, Parramatta federal MP Andrew Charlton and Macnamara federal MP Josh Burns. Other alleged recipients included 2GB presenter Mark Levy and former Australian Jewish Association president David Adler.
Strike Force Eckon began investigating in May 2026 after a large volume of abusive letters was sent to multiple recipients. Court documents identified 23 alleged victims. Police said DNA evidence linked Baker to letters allegedly sent between 2021 and 2026, with nearly 60 per cent of the letters allegedly received in 2026.
At Parramatta Local Court, the defence said Baker had not followed up on the alleged threats and offered strict bail conditions. Judge Emma Manea refused bail, saying she could not be satisfied that the alleged risk to the community could be addressed. The matter has been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions, and Baker is expected to appear in court on August 13.
