Arabic version: حكم على معلم بالسجن لت stabbing مدير مدرسة كيزبورو الثانوية
Kim Ramchen, a former teacher at Keysborough Secondary College, has been jailed for 15 months for stabbing principal Aaron Sykes during school hours in December 2025. The attack occurred after Ramchen learned that his contract would not be renewed, prompting him to “snap,” according to court documents.
According to ABC News, Ramchen initially left the office after being disarmed by a colleague but returned with a larger knife, continuing the assault before being restrained again. Sykes sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has been unable to return to work since the incident.
During the sentencing, Deputy Chief Magistrate Tim Bourke labeled the attack as “serious,” particularly given the setting of a school with students present. He noted that Ramchen attacked both the principal and a colleague who intervened to help.
Ramchen pleaded guilty to multiple charges, which led to a reduced sentence. He must serve more than eight months before becoming eligible for parole. The court also considered Ramchen’s mental health issues and personal struggles, including marriage difficulties and addiction to painkillers, during the sentencing process.
