A 15-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after a teenage girl was stabbed at Thorpe St Andrew School, near Norwich, on Wednesday. The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries after the incident, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and a lockdown at the school.

According to BBC News, the girl, who is a pupil at the school, was taken to hospital with what police described as minor injuries and has since been discharged. During the lockdown, pupils were told to switch off their phones and hide under their desks for safety.

The boy, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, has also been charged with possession of a knife on school premises. He is scheduled to appear before magistrates on Friday.

Thorpe St Andrew School, which has more than 1,800 pupils, reopened on Thursday. Principal Penny Bignell assured that children who did not feel ready to return would be supported following the incident.
