According to ABC News, a 14-year-old boy has been refused bail after being charged over an alleged group attack on a 13-year-old boy in Ellenbrook, in Perth’s north-east. The incident was filmed and shared on social media.

The Perth Children’s Court heard the 13-year-old met a group of between six and eight offenders at an Ellenbrook address on Sunday before an altercation began. He was allegedly punched and kicked, then later met the group at another location, where he was allegedly threatened with a knife and assaulted for between five and 10 minutes.

The court heard the charged boy allegedly kicked the 13-year-old in the face, causing him to fall backwards. The victim was then allegedly dragged along the ground, punched and kicked, forced to say “derogatory things”, and had his t-shirt and jumper stolen. He walked home before later attending Midland Hospital with a concussion, lumps on his head, black eyes and bruising.

The 14-year-old was charged with aggravated armed robbery and causing bodily harm. Magistrate Joanne Andretich said he had no criminal record, but described the alleged offending as extremely serious and said the state had a “very strong case”. He will return to court in late November.

Police said their investigation was continuing and that other persons of interest had been identified. They urged community members not to threaten retaliation, take matters into their own hands, or publish names, photographs or personal information of people believed to be involved.
