Five local parks and reserves are set to transform into outdoor movie theatres with the return of Parramatta’s Family Movie Nights next month.
Families can relax under the stars with blockbuster films such as A Minecraft Movie and Wicked: For Good on screen with themed activities, roving performers, food trucks and inflatables including a fun house, slide and soccer dart board at each event.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said Council is proud to continue to deliver this free family-friendly event each year.
“This is about getting our communities together for a free, fun night out with a movie, good food and fun activities,” Cr Zaiter said.
“Over the past 10 years, thousands of people have packed a picnic blanket, some popcorn and snacks and enjoyed a film in our parks.
“Nearly 5,000 people gathered for last year’s Family Movie Nights so we’re expecting even bigger crowds this year.”
Each year, different parks and reserves are chosen to host the Family Movie Nights on rotation with each ward hosting one night.
The recently opened Sue Savage Reserve in Toongabbie has been added to this year’s list of locations to host a movie night, along with four other parks spread across the local area.
“Council’s Family Movie Nights also give our communities the chance to enjoy the best green spaces in Sydney,” Cr Zaiter said.
“Global Cities value their parks and reserves, and this event helps locals explore these open, green spaces and experience the benefits of Council’s investment into these important social spaces.”
Each event will also have movie-themed activities such as Minecraft LEGO building, potion and wand making, a reptile display and karate headband decorating.
