Hassan Turk, the head of the Democratic Union Party and a member of the Egyptian Political Parties Coalition, stated that Egypt’s active and pivotal role in de-escalating tensions and achieving a ceasefire in Iran has led to the possibility of bringing both Iranian and American parties to the negotiation table in Islamabad, Pakistan. This initiative is being facilitated by Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff.
Turk emphasized that Egypt’s dedicated efforts did not begin during the forty days marked by intense Israeli-American strikes on Iran and Iranian aggression against Gulf nations. Rather, Egypt has consistently engaged in diplomatic efforts since the war in June. The political leadership, particularly the active Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti and Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad, have been working tirelessly to silence the sound of guns and establish peace and security across the Middle East. He highlighted that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was the only leader from the Arab and Islamic world to visit Gulf nations, expressing Egypt’s solidarity and full support for its brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jordan, and Iraq amid Iranian aggression.
Turk commended Egypt’s significant efforts, which have repeatedly affirmed that national security in Egypt is intrinsically linked to Arab national security. Thus, Egypt has been actively involved from the very beginning in communications aimed at bridging the gap between Iran and the United States. The country is collaborating with its allies in Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia to achieve a peace agreement between Iran and the United States.
