Achrafieh, December 12th, 2022 – During three consecutive days, Jouzour Loubnan and the French Embassy’s teams as well as the representatives of the French Association of Agroforestry visited agricultural sites in Ras Baalbek, Bechouat, Deir El Ahmar, Mdoukha, Kfarhoune, Msayleh, Dar Baachtar, Bsharri and Mejdlaya, and they met owners of large lands in the Bekaa Valley, in order to study the potential development of agroforestry and agroecology in Lebanon and define an action plan to ensure the transfer of know-how to the farmers, NGOs, key institutional stakeholders and universities.
The results of these visits were very encouraging, as the adoption of the agroforestry and agroecology techniques would in many instances significantly reduce the use of fertilizers, pesticides, water and energy while improving the profitability of agricultural land.

Jouzour Loubnan’s mission is to participate in the restoration of Lebanese woodland and promote sustainable reforestation. In view of the severe economic crisis in the agricultural sector, Jouzour Loubnan decided to embrace agroforestry and agroecology, thus offering social assistance to farmers and economic benefit to Lebanon while planting trees and vegetation covers.
