The Ministry of Culture has announced the dates for the third edition of the VS-FILM Short Film Festival, which will take place from October 28 to November 1, 2026, in the governorate of Suez.
Dr. Osama Abounar, the festival’s president, stated that preparations for the festival began early in order to present an exceptional edition. The festival has made significant strides since its second edition last year, solidifying its presence among international festivals dedicated to very short films.
He emphasized that the call for film submissions for the festival’s competitions, which include films of 5 and 10 minutes, will open in the coming days. Additionally, he mentioned that new categories will be introduced to accommodate different types of short films, such as mobile films and video art, which have gained considerable popularity on social media platforms.
Ziad Basmeer, the festival’s executive director, commented that the third edition will feature the participation of prominent Arab and international artistic figures who have expressed their eagerness to attend and contribute to the judging panels, masterclasses, or award ceremonies. This reflects the positive impact the festival has made in its previous two editions.
Basmeer also emphasized that this edition of the festival will host significant cinematic activities, including film screenings, seminars, and workshops on producing very short films, which will be held at Suez University, El Galala University, and in the city of Ain Sokhna.
